ISRAELI SOLDIER GOT A NEW FRIEND IN LEBANON

As the Israeli Defense Forces site reported (www.idf.il)(english site), when the Israeli paratroopers were leaving Lebanon, as soon as some soldiers pass the village of Kauzer, a israeli sodier saw a small kitten, the soldier said it came towards him, he noted the kitten was wounded, so he picked "him" up, a walked back the 6 km to Israeli soil, with the kitten and of course the heavy military equiptment he was allready carrying.

As soon as the israeli soldier and his brigade unit members sat down to rest, they took care of the kitten and shared with him some canned food, wich according to the reports tha cat loved.

The cat was named "kauzer" by his new owner. a very nice act of the israeli soldier...have a great life in Israel kauzer!

The conflict between Israel and the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah has produced some of the most distorted and biased reporting we have seen in years. Despite evidence that Israel is taking unprecedented steps to avoid civilian casualties, some in the media have accused the IDF of using disproportionate force against a harmless civilian population. With little evidence to back up this claim, some are even resorting to outright fraud as in the following case.

LITTLE GREEN FOOTBALLS EXPOSES REUTERS' LIE

Little Green Footballs is a blog run by Charles Johnson that has frequently been the first to expose media distortions and other breaking news from the Middle East. Knowing just how far dishonest journalists will go when attacking Israel, Johnson was immediately suspicious when he noticed the following Reuters photograph that was sent to media outlets worldwide.

Writing in LGF, Johnson claimed:

This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop "clone" tool to add more smoke to the image.

Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. There's really no question about it. It's not only the plumes of smoke that were 'enhanced.' There are also cloned buildings.

Faced with an onslaught of bloggers taking up the case and demonstrating how clearly the picture had been doctored, Reuters finally came clean and admitted that the picture was a lie. Attempting to stop the worldwide distribution, Reuters issued a "photo kill" and explained to news outlets:

Reuters' head of PR now says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' See Ynet.

However, Reuters needs to explain clearly to the public several critical issues:

1.
Why did a Reuters photographer manipulate the images to make the damage look more severe than it was;
2.
How could Reuters editors not catch the fraud when a blogger and a group of amateur photographers noticed it easily;
3.
What steps is Reuters taking to punish all those involved in the creation and distribution of this forgery and what Reuters is doing to prevent these hoaxes in the future.

TOM GROSS EXPOSES MORE MEDIA MANIPULATION

Journalist Tom Gross has published an article in the National Review entitled "The Media Aims Its Missiles." Here is a selection from that article that we find very revealing about the extent the media is being manipulated.

A CNN MAN LETS SLIP

"CNN senior international correspondent" Nic Robertson admitted that his anti-Israel report from Beirut on July 18 about civilian casualties in Lebanon, was stage-managed from start to finish by Hizbullah. He revealed that his story was heavily influenced by Hizbullah's "press officer" and that Hizbullah have "very, very sophisticated and slick media operations."

When pressed a few days later about his reporting on the CNN program "Reliable Sources," Robertson acknowledged that Hizbullah militants had instructed the CNN camera team where and what to film. Hizbullah "had control of the situation," Robertson said. "They designated the places that we went to, and we certainly didn't have time to go into the houses or lift up the rubble to see what was underneath."

Robertson added that Hizbullah has "very, very good control over its areas in the south of Beirut. They deny journalists access into those areas. You don't get in there without their permission. We didn't have enough time to see if perhaps there was somebody there who was, you know, a taxi driver by day, and a Hizbullah fighter by night."

Yet "Reliable Sources," presented by Washington Post writer Howard Kurtz, is broadcast only on the American version of CNN. So CNN International viewers around the world will not have had the opportunity to learn from CNN's "Senior international correspondent" that the pictures they saw from Beirut were carefully selected for them by Hizbullah.

Another journalist let the cat out of the bag last week. Writing on his blog while reporting from southern Lebanon, Time magazine contributor Christopher Allbritton, casually mentioned in the middle of a posting: "To the south, along the curve of the coast, Hezbollah is launching Katyushas, but I'm loathe to say too much about them. The Party of God has a copy of every journalist's passport, and they've already hassled a number of us and threatened one."

Robertson is not the only foreign journalist to have misled viewers with selected footage from Beirut. NBC's Richard Engel, CBS's Elizabeth Palmer, and a host of European and other networks, were also taken around the damaged areas by Hizbullah minders. Palmer commented on her report that "Hizbullah is also determined that outsiders will only see what it wants them to see."

Palmer's honesty is helpful. But it doesn't prevent the damage being done by organizations such as the BBC. First the BBC gave the impression that Israel had flattened the greater part of Beirut. Then to follow up its lop-sided coverage, its website helpfully carried full details of the assembly points for an anti-Israel march due to take place in London, but did not give any details for a rally in support of Israel also held in London a short time later.

Here is an example of how Israel thinks and acts.

They are vilified throughout the world for this war as an immoral and brutal state with a brutal army intent on murder. How many Nazi comparisons to the IDF or to Israel’s leadership have you seen in the past couple of weeks? Remember Annan accusing Israel, without a shred of evidence, of deliberately targeting UN peacekeepers? Remember The Telegraph comparing the bombing in Beirut to the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and the crushing Nazi response? Oh sure, everybody pays lip service to the fact that Hizbullah started this, and some even admit the daily 100 rocket barrage is a war crime, but this usually merits a paragraph and then they turn and expend the majority of their venom on Israel.

Well, I’ve just read about an operation that took place hours ago where Israeli naval commandos entered Tyre, approached an apartment building where senior Hizbullah operatives were based and were able to kill these leaders and a few others. In this action, an Israeli officer and a soldier were killed. In addition, a couple of commandos were seriously wounded (for those who don’t know the lingo, this means they have probably lost limbs and were or are near death). The naval commandos are some of the IDF’s toughest and best trained fighters, not unlike the US SEALS. These men are some of the most motivated fighters in the IDF and certainly among the most capable. In the late ’90s one of these units was on a mission inside Lebanon when they were ambushed and 12 fighters were killed. It turned out that Israel’s source of information had turned and provided the necessary information to Hizbullah.

In any case, as I’m reading the article about the raid, I come across the following:

The commandos entered an apartment building in a crowded residential area in northern Tyre, where they engaged with Hizbullah operatives, including three senior members.

When the elite unit left the apartment, they were fired upon from several directions. IAF aircrafts and drones covered the force and cleared an exit for it. Seven Lebanese were killed in the operation.

Head of Naval intelligence told Army Radio that an aerial assault on the building was avoided since it was not known whether there were civilians in the building. He also mentioned that the ground operation sent a strong message to the fighters, indicating that the IDF can reach deep into Lebanon.

Get it? That’s right, while the media, the Left and half the world screams about Israel’s “aggression” and Nazi-like tactics, the Israelis continue to risk their soldiers’ lives in an effort to minimize Lebanese civilian casualties - even as Israel’s enemy is clearly and cynically embedded among those civilians. These soldiers, some of Israel’s finest young men, who have died or become seriously injured, are paying the price for a moral policy that has bore little fruit. Israel gets to keep its head high in its own public sphere, while the international community ignores the sacrifice. While this is a point of pride for and about Israel, one wonders whether a missile would have been a better choice here. I would think at least the parents of these young men would think so. Certainly, it is a policy that slows and hampers Israel’s ability to conduct this war and win it quickly.

The real evil of Hizbullah and Iran is that they force Israel to make these choices. We have always seen tactics from Israel’s enemies that prove they do not play in the same moral sphere as Israel - numerous airplane hijackings; the Munich attacks; the school attack at Ma’alot; the Lod Airport attack; suicide bombings; targeting of civilians; and now, fighting an entire war as an army embedded among civilians. It seems to me this is no longer a war about land or religion or justice or injustice. I think it has truly evolved into a war of cultural and physical survival. It is becoming clearer and clearer that this is a war over values and culture; a war about being able to maintain the Western world free from those who would subjugate it and turn it into a civilization that is so ugly that it would target civilians while cynically using their sides’ civilians as shields. Surely, as I write, there are numerous Lebanese, Saudis, Emirates citizens, and others in the region who are praying that Hizbullah and its master Iran lose this war. Imagine them praying for the welfare of Israeli soldiers quietly and in their hearts…

Edit: Lo and behold, the next article I read in the J Post is about Blair’s recent speech where he says:

The central point is this: In the end, even the issue of Israel is just part of the same, wider struggle for the soul of the region. … [I]n Lebanon, in Gaza, in Iraq and add to that in Afghanistan, in Kashmir, in a host of other nations, including now some in Africa - it is a global fight about global values … about whether our value system can be shown to be sufficiently robust, true, principled, and appealing that it beats [Reactionary Islam].

Some news outlets like REUTERS, keep blaming Israel for this crisis ignoring that:

1.- Hizbala attacked first without any previous provocation by Israel, inside israeli soil, therefore Israel has the right of selfdefense as everybody agreed.

2.- Hizbala cowardly run and hide behind lebanese child and women usind them as human shields therefore "martyrs" in order to be protected to keep murdering israeli children and women. REUTERS NEVER BLAME HIZBALA.

3.- Hizbala challenge international media to show the"israeli agression" avoiding the hizbala responsability in this war, wich must to be all of it.

Therefore, this kind of pathetic "news" we haven seen on TV, explains this crisis on the amount of dead people in Lebanon and Israel, blaming Israel because more lebanese civilians have lost their lives than Israeli civilians, but is not a "race" on who get more deaths, and the number does not explain "who is right or wrong. that is just for inmoral reporters and journalist...but for that I have to say:

As a Jew and as a Israeli I am truly sorry we the Israelies DO NOT HAVE MORE deaths to show to the press, maybe if the press keep supporting Hizbala actions more israelies will die, therefore REUTERS and other news outlets will be satisfied as well as the "mexican intellectuals" who support hizbala terror activities. Is that what they want?...

Israel will survive, because is right and its army is the most moral one, thanks to Israel moral, they have avoided civilian casualities, against the Hizbala plans wich seeks to get more lebanese civilians deaths, that is why Hizbala hide between civilians...after all what you can expect for a TERRORIST group who glorified dead as "suicide bombers", as "martyrdom" wich its TOP PRIORITY is to KILL israelis civilians and jews around the world with "christians", using its own women and childer as "human shields"...but there some news agencies wich believes Hizbala is right.. even IS NOT!
